On 4 April 2013, HM Rector of the University of Silesia, President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland Prof. Wiesław Banyś participated in a session of the Parliamentary Standing Sub-Committee on Science and Higher Education at the Sejm of the Republic of Poland in Warsaw.
The session was intended to investigate Information from the Minister of Science and Higher Education on the actual functioning of provisions of the Act of 14 March 2003 on scientific degrees and title and degrees and title in the area of art, with regard to the procedure for the conferral of doctoral, post-doctoral degrees and professorial titles, and present a stance on the so-called ‘habilitation tourism’.
