On Thursday, 28 February 2013, the Presidential Palace in Warsaw was the venue for an expert seminar “Higher Education Institutions and Their Regions”. The invitee list included representatives of HEIs, regions, local governments, business and specialists. The President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland, HM Rector of the University of Silesia Prof. Wiesław Banyś was in attendance.
The debate was intended to analyse main challenges facing higher education institutions in regard of regional development, the use of higher education policy instruments in regional policy and new instruments strengthening the synergy between HEIs and regions. The seminar was opened by Mr. Olgierd Dziekoński, Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland.
